Cat Rescued From Under Car Hood In Ashland After 5-Mile Ride

ASHLAND (CBS) – A cat was rescued from under the hood of a woman's car after she unknowingly drove several miles with the animal just inches from the vehicle's engine.

The woman arrived at McDonald's in Ashland and heard a meowing sound coming from under the car's hood.

Despite the woman's best efforts, the cat would not come out of the car so she called for police and firefighters to help.

David Iarussi, a lieutenant with the Ashland Fire Department, disconnected wires from the engine so the town's Animal Control Officer could safely reach in and pull the cat out.

The cat, which was not injured despite its dangerous journey, is now at an Ashland kennel until its owner is located.

Police believe the cat may have gotten into the car in Framingham.
