Marchand Returns To Ice, Will Travel With Bruins On Road Trip

BOSTON (CBS) -- After a very difficult stretch to start their new season, the Boston Bruins got a bit of good news on Tuesday.

Brad Marchand, who missed Monday's loss to Tampa Bay after suffering a concussion on Saturday, was back on the ice for Tuesday's practice. He was in a green no-contact jersey as he skated with a few of his teammates.

"I'm happy with how I feel and hopefully I don't have any steps back," Marchand told reporters.

Marchand suffered the concussion during the third period of Saturday night's loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the result of an inadvertent elbow to the head from Dale Weise. He said while he's feeling good today, he won't rush back until he is 100 percent.

"It's early in the year and I'm not going to rush back because of the results. I'd rather miss a game or two rather than a couple months if I get hit again," he said. "It is very tough any time to sit out, especially if the team loses. But at the end of the day it's more beneficial to the team and of myself if I come back 100 percent and don't get injured again."

The second-line forward will travel with the team when they head out for a brief two-game road trip for games against Colorado and Phoenix, as Boston looks for their first win on the season.
