Columbus Day Weekend Friday One Of Busiest On Mass Pike

BOSTON (CBS) – You may not realize it, but this is expected to be one of the busiest traffic days of the year in Massachusetts.

According to MassDOT, the Friday of Columbus Day weekend was the second busiest toll traffic day of 2014.

That means major slowdowns on the Massachusetts Turnpike, the Pike extension, Tobin Bridge and the tunnels.

In fact, MassDOT says the Friday of Columbus Day weekend was the busiest day of 2014 on the "western Turnpike," which is considered west of Weston.

The busiest day for tolls in Massachusetts in 2014 was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
