Woman Allegedly Raped By Kingston Martial Arts Instructor Breaks Her Silence

KINGSTON (CBS) – A woman is breaking her silence decades after she was allegedly raped by her martial arts instructor. The victim says he assaulted her for years and investigators want to know if there are more victims.

She was 11 years old when the alleged rapes started. Now, she's 39, and has regained her emotions enough to go to the police, and tell them her martial arts instructor raped her until she was sixteen, when her family moved away.

Her sister told WBZ-TV today, "Given how young she was, it took time to gather herself. And she's come forward to identify the man, because she fears there are other victims, after all, he's still teaching."

The alleged rapist is 58-year-old Colin Dahlen from Kingston.

Police say it was 28 years ago when he began raping the little girl, who is now 39.

In court, prosecutors say when Dahlen was recently confronted with the allegation, the only thing he said to the detective was, "what about the statute of limitations?"

Dahlen's attorney, Jack Atwood, says the statute of limitations does not apply to the rape charges, but that his client denies ever touching anyone inappropriately.

Dahlen is free on $5,000 bail.
