Tom Brady's 400th Touchdown Ball Now In Hall At Patriot Place

BOSTON (CBS) -- Danny Amendola was just trying to be a nice guy when he realized he had made a huge mistake.

After hauling in a one-yard touchdown grab from Tom Brady late in the first half of Sunday's 51-17 rout of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Amendola walked over to the stands and gave the ball to a fan. Players do that all the time, so really it shouldn't have been a big deal. It was just Amendola giving a faithful fan a souvenir.

Except this particular souvenir had quite a bit of meaning to it. That ball was the 400th touchdown pass of Brady's career, putting him in rare air in the NFL.

Amendola realized what he had done as he made his way back to the sidelines. Tom Brady didn't seem to mind his generosity when asked about it after the game.

"Danny can do whatever he wants with it," Brady said with a smile. "He made a great catch."

Fans can rest easy; as quickly as Amendola gifted the ball away it was retrieved by a Patriots team official. It was then given to Brady so he can add it to his extension collection of Super Bowl rings and MVP trophies.

But for now, anyone who wants to see a piece of Patriots and Tom Brady history will have that opportunity. The ball now rests at The Hall at Patriot Place outside of Gillette Stadium for everyone to see.

Brady and the Patriots will resume their touchdown parade on October 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.
