Hopkinton Man Dies Surfing In Maine

KENNEBUNK, Maine (AP) — Police say the surfer who died last week on a Maine beach was from Massachusetts.

The Kennebunk Police Department identified the man Monday as 51-year-old Andrew Payson of Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The fire department said first responders arrived Wednesday to find beach-goers performing CPR on Payson at Gooch's Beach.

They said he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police Lt. Eric O'Brien said Monday that they hadn't received the cause of death from the state medical examiner's office.
