Arrest Made In 'Horrific' Marshfield Murder
BOSTON (CBS) -- Authorities have announced an arrest in the murder of a 43-year-old Marshfield man earlier this month.
James Ferguson, 40, formerly of Marshfield, was arrested Saturday at his current home in Dorchester.
Ferguson is suspected in the murder of Robert McKenna, who was found dead in his home on Sept. 17. Investigators described a "horrific" scene inside McKenna's home on Damons Point Road.
McKenna was found dead in his kitchen. His arm, hands and head had been slashed with a knife, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.
DNA from an unnamed item found at the scene matched Ferguson, the DA said in a public statement Sunday.
McKenna's death was not believed to be a random incident.
"It's a huge relief to have somebody in custody that did this horrible, terrible thing," says neighbor Ivy Frances.
Residents of McKenna's upscale neighborhood said the victim had an odd backstory, and talked of diamond-running and hunting big game in Africa.
Ferguson will be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Monday. He faces burglary and murder charges.
