WORCESTER (CBS) -- A brother and sister were taking groceries out of their car when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver in Worcester on Saturday night, sources told WBZ-TV.

A source tells WBZ-TV's Jim Smith that one person is dead following the accident on busy Lincoln Street. The siblings were getting out of their car when they were struck by another car.

Witnesses told WBZ the driver kept going, apparently dragging one of the victims down the road perhaps hundreds of feet.

"Unfortunately, they were grabbing stuff out of the vehicle and this happened," said witness Chris Gonzalez. "Somebody came by and swooped them up from the side of the road."

Worcester police are reconstructing the accident scene. They are investigating this as a case of possible drunken driving.

A source told WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill the driver was caught several blocks away in the area of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Neighbors were shaken up after hearing the news.

"They are my neighbors and they are good people. They don't ever get in trouble," Gonzalez said.

No additional information was immediately available.
