Westford Cat Shot, Killed By Arrow

WESTFORD (CBS) -- A Westford family's beloved cat was shot with an arrow and killed over the weekend.

The family that lives in the Forge Village area believes Oliver the cat was shot in the leg in their own backyard.

Angela Tassie made the disturbing discovery Saturday night.

"I saw the arrow and started freaking out," she said. "I kind of panicked a little bit."

Oliver was rushed to the vet, but it was determined that Oliver was not a candidate for surgery, so he was euthanized.

Flowers now cover a small grave in the family's backyard.

"Our other cat, I think she knows because her little paw prints are on this," said Danielle St. Pierre, Tassie's daughter.

St. Pierre said Oliver was frisky and playful, and she liked to call him "handsome."

"He was my first pet," she said. "I was a mess for a couple days."

No suspects have been identified in the incident. The arrow had a razor-edged tip, and the family is upset that they have to worry about arrows flying near their home.

"It could have been so much worse," Tassie said. "It could've been a person."
