Body Found In Yellow Hummer Linked To Missing Reading Mother

READING (CBS) – A body found in a yellow Hummer in Londonderry, New Hampshire Tuesday afternoon has been identified as that of a missing Reading mother.

State and local police had asked for the public's help in their search for 48-year-old Dorothy Lessard Brownsberger, who had just moved to Reading.

Foul play was not suspected in the discovery of the body, officials said.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement that Brownsberger had died.

"This is no longer considered a criminal investigation and no additional information will be released," Ryan said.

Brownsberger was last seen by her husband leaving their home around 9 a.m. Sunday.

"My wife came into the bedroom and said 'Hey, I'm going to run out for some milk for (her 11-year-old son) Liam's breakfast. I'll be right back for church.' That's the last time we've seen her," her husband Ben told reporters earlier on Tuesday.

"She left her phone here, so she didn't plan to be gone for more than a minute. She hasn't accessed any money," he said. "The only thing she had was, maybe, 20 bucks or so on her in cash."

Brownsberger, left home driving her 2007 yellow Hummer.

She's a cystic fibrosis survivor who underwent a double lung transplant and a kidney transplant.  She went on to win a gold medal at the U.S. Transplant Games.

Overcoming her condition is one of her greatest accomplishments, but was also of great concern after she was gone more than 48 hours.

Her husband said it's simply out of character for her to just leave without notice.

Brownsberger said they moved to Reading three weeks ago to be closer to her ex-husband, who shares joint custody of their son.

Cassol said there had been tense conversations between Dottie and her ex, but that Dottie would never leave her son.

"She lives, breathes, sleeps, does everything for Liam. I mean that is her life," she said.
