Classic Cars Showcased On Common For Boston Cup

BOSTON (CBS) -- The weather was spectacular for the fourth annual Boston Cup Classic Car Show on the Boston Common on Sunday.

Almost every kind of car was represented at the show - vintage, custom, an IndyCar two-seater, and even vintage motorcycles.

The 12-mile drive to the show put some car owners' nerves to the test.

"Well I'm always nervous when I drive one of these cars, you know. But it worked very well," said car owner Arthurro Gutierrez.

"The cars are curated like a museum exhibit. And so people nominate their cars. We limit it to 100 cars. We look for the most rare and unusual," said Richard Doucette, founding chairman of the Boston Cup Classic Car Show.

The car nominations, combined with donations, and sponsors, add up. Last year the organizers donated over $25,000 to the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. The money is used however they need. One thing the money went toward last year, was the Boston Common Christmas display.

This year, the car show raised even more money.

"We will have gone over $100,000. We will give them a $25,000 check. Plus a little bit more this year," Doucette said

If you missed the show this year, plan on it next year. The date is already set for September, rain or shine. Once again, it will be free to attend.
