Red Sox Owners Look To Add 265 Seats At Fenway Park
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Red Sox' ownership is looking to get city approval to add 265 more seats to Fenway Park next year, according to the Boston Herald.
The proposal calls for 10 rows with 232 seats added to east end of the right field pavilion, near the light tower, and on a right field roof deck. Ten seats would be removed from an existing aisle.
A row of seats would also be tacked on to the rear of the pavilion seats in left field in front of an existing light tower. The additional 43 seats would be added at the expense of 50 standing-room-only spots.
Other proposed changes to the ballpark include improving the concession stand on the first base deck, and adding a metal roof over it.
The team declined to elaborate on the proposal, which would cost $6.5 million.
"We have initiated the required public approval process … for possible improvements to Fenway Park in 2016," spokeswoman Zineb Curran told the Herald. "However, the scope of these proposed improvements has yet to be finalized, and it would be premature to make any formal announcements at this time."
