Man Dies In Marshfield House Fire

MARSHFIELD (CBS) – One person died in an overnight Marshfield fire that investigators say was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. on Wyoming Street in a home with three people inside.

A resident who was downstairs when the fire broke up ran upstairs to alert the other two people inside the building.

One of the second floor residents was able to escape and call 911 from a neighbor's house.

Firefighters were slowed by intense flames and heat coming from two windows on the second floor.

When they gained access to the bedroom, firefighters found a third resident. Larry Deparales, 65, was died as a result of the fire.

Investigators determined smoking materials caused the fire. The house was determined to be uninhabitable.
