Stolen Red Sox World Series Ring Discovered In Quincy Drug Bust
QUINCY (CBS) -- Police in Quincy are trying to figure out how a 2004 Red Sox World Series ring turned up in a drug bust on Tuesday.
Officers raided a residence at 97 Hall Place amid an investigation into oxycodone distribution in the city.
Inside the home, police found oxycodone tablets, multiple police scanners, a money counting machine, over $9,000 in cash and the World Series ring that was determined to be stolen.
Quincy police Capt. John Dougan said the ring belongs to a Red Sox employee, not a player or coach.
"I don't know how this gentleman got possession of this ring but it was a little bit of a shock for our drug unit to find an actual Red Sox World Series ring," Dougan said.
A 2004 World Series ring sold on eBay by a Red Sox scout went for more than $15,000 in 2007, The Boston Globe reported.
Dennis Leclair and James White, of Quincy, and George Green, of Dorchester all face drug charges and are due to be arraigned Tuesday in Quincy District Court.
