Girl, 9, Accidentally Shot By Dad At Vermont Hunting Camp
IRA, Vt. (CBS) -- A 9-year-old girl was accidentally shot by her father at a Vermont hunting camp, authorities say.
Vermont State Police said Randy Babcock was clearing his .22 caliber handgun Sunday morning when his daughter was shot in the stomach.
Family members carried her from their campsite off Route 4 to a rest area, where she was met by paramedics.
The girl was medflighted to a hospital. She is listed in guarded condition in the intensive care unit.
State police and the Vermont Department for Children and Families are investigating the shooting.
