Ten Cheerleaders From Winthrop Camp End Up In Hospital
WINTHROP (CBS) – Ten cheerleaders attending a camp in Winthrop ended up in the hospital last week.
It started last Tuesday, August 18, when one cheerleader went to the hospital with soreness.
"Over the course of three days Tuesday – Thursday a total of 10 students were admitted," John Macero, Superintendent of Winthrop Public Schools, told WBZ-TV in a statement.
"Over the weekend seven students were released and able to return home."
Macero believes the issues were "heat related."
"Winthrop Public Schools is conducting an independent investigation at this time and will only comment after the investigation is complete," Macero said.
