Man Charged With Drunk Driving In Fatal NH Crash

CHESTER, N.H. (CBS) -- A 47-year-old man has been charged with drunk driving following a fatal crash in Chester, New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to a three-vehicle crash at the eastern side of the Derry town line on Derry Road at Route 102 around 2:19 p.m.

A black 2014 Ford Fusion was traveling east when it crossed into the westbound lane, striking a gold 2006 Kia Sedona minivan.

After being hit, the Kia Sedona then collided with a silver 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling in the eastbound lane.

John McMahon, 65, of Windham, New Hampshire, suffered massive trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

He was a passenger in the Kia Sedona, which was driven by Susan McMahon, 66, also of Windham.

She suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Parkland Hospital.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, 60-year-old Kevin Lally, of Derry, New Hampshire, also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Lally was taken to Elliott Hospital.

Craig Vanier, of Chester, New Hampshire, was the driver of the Ford Fusion. He was not injured in the crash.

Vanier was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence.

State Police say impairment appears to be a factor, but all aspects of the crash are still under investigation.

Several police and fire departments assisted at the scene.
