Rusney Castillo Forgets How Many Outs There Are

BOSTON (CBS) -- Even Hanley Ramirez has to feel a little bit better about his less-than-stellar defense after what he witnessed Wednesday night.

In the top of the seventh inning of Boston's 6-4 win over the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park, Sox right fielder Rusney Castillo must have forgot you need three outs to end an inning. After Castillo brought in a deep pop up off the bat of Cleveland's Jose Ramirez, he casually flicked the ball into the bleachers, giving a lucky fan a souvenir.

But there were two problems with the play. One, it was only the second out of the inning, and two, Cleveland had a runner on first.

It went in the books as a two-base error for Castilo, and Abraham Almonte went from first to third. There was no harm in the play though, as Alexi Ogando struck out the next batter, Jason Kipnis, to end the inning.

While it didn't lead to any damage for the Red Sox, manager Torey Lovullo wasn't pleased following the win.

"It's not a laughing matter for us," he said. "We take that stuff seriously. I addressed Rusney and we can't allow that type of stuff to happen."

In 45 games with Boston this season, Castillo is hitting .280 with four home runs and 19 RBIs. In 39 games in right, he's committed three errors.
