Report: Brady Willing To Accept Suspension, But Only For Non-Cooperation
BOSTON (CBS) -- It turns out that Tom Brady is willing to accept a suspension from the NFL, just not for deflating any footballs.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning, hours before Brady's side was set to meet with the NFL's side in federal court, that Brady would accept "some form of suspension," which runs counter to the widely believed thought that the quarterback steadfastly refused moving from a zero-game demand in settlement talks.
That willingness, however, comes with a strict condition.
"Tom Brady is open to accepting some form of suspension, but only if it can be for failing to cooperate with the NFL rather than admitting to the Wells' Report findings, per league sources," Schefter reported on his Facebook page. "The NFL has been adamant that Brady admits to the report's findings, something he doesn't seem willing to ever do. With that in mind, settlement discussions have gone 'nowhere,' according to sources, and the two sides are back in court today."
Brady was in New York on Tuesday for settlement talks but was reportedly sent home by Judge Richard Berman when it was clear that the two sides were nowhere close to reaching an agreement. Brady headed to West Virginia for joint practice sessions between the Patriots and Saints.
