Stoughton Remains Identified As Man Missing Since 2009

STOUGHTON (CBS/AP) — Authorities say human remains found in a wooded area of Stoughton this week have been identified as those of a 22-year-old man missing since 2009.

The Norfolk District Attorney's Office said Saturday that the state medical examiner's office has identified the remains as those of Ilya Lastovkin, who vanished in the area after leaving his family's nearby home.

The remains were found Friday in an area near Simpson Road, a day after a passer-by found a human bone in the same area. Lastovkin lived on nearby Memorial Drive.

Yakaterina Laskovin, Ilya's sister, spoke with WBZ-TV on Friday when the remains were found. The 22-year-old walked away from the family home, near the search site, back in November 2009.

"If it's him, at least I'll know what happened, but I hope it's not him," Yakaterina Laskovin said Friday.

She said he left with no money or cellphone.

The prosecutor's office said foul play is not believed to have been involved in his death.
