Manning: No Hard Feelings After Brady Emails Go Public

BOSTON (CBS) -- When Tom Brady's personal emails were released to the public a few weeks back, one of the more interesting exchanges involved one of Brady's biggest rivals, Peyton Manning.

Brady said in an email to a friend, which was one of the many articles made public as part of the NFLPA's lawsuit on behalf of Brady against the NFL, that he believed he has seven or eight years left in the NFL. Manning on the other hand, has only two.

"That's the final chapter," Brady wrote. "Game on."

He even said in another email that Manning needed everything, from the weather to his system, to be "perfect" in order to succeed. Many taking the comments as a shot by Brady at Manning, and Brady recently text his rival to apologize -- a move Manning said was unnecessary.

Responding to Brady's emails for the first time on Wednesday, Manning said there was "no harm, no foul" in any of the comments.

"Everybody has been speculating on that for a long time, so I guess he's joining the list of trying to predict,'' Manning told reporters, according to ESPN. "Hey, Tom sent me an apology text that was unnecessary. The fact his emails got revealed, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.''

Manning has heard plenty in his 17 years in the NFL, and compared to what he likely hears whenever he takes the field at Gillette Stadium, Brady's comments were on the tame side.

"Somebody said I was roasted; I've been roasted before and that is not roasted. I haven't been on a Comedy Central roast, but I've been to a couple private dinners and banquets where I didn't know it was going to turn into a roast of me, but it did. I can promise you that e-mail was amateur night compared to some of the things that were said about me," he responded.

Brady and Manning will square off on the field in Week 12 in Denver.
