At around 4 p.m. a distress call went out for a man overboard by Rainsford Island.

Officers said three people were in the front of the boat and realized the fourth, who was in the back, was no longer there.

The trio found him in the water and pulled him out.

EMTs performed CPR and rushed the man to the Tufts Medical Center, but he passed away.

Police said Lori Ann was moving through the water by the island, when the man went into the harbor.

They were unsure of where the boat came from and its destination.

The man who owns the boat was also operating it.

Another man and woman were passengers.

Police said it's early in the investigation and they cannot rule out OUI, but they also could not say if a crime was committed.

Investigators said early indications show it was an accident.
