14-Year-Old Boy Charged With Shooting NH Girl With BB

BOSTON (CBS) – A 14-year-old boy has been charged with shooting a New Hampshire girl in the eye with a BB gun.

Tessa Kuusisto, 9, was riding in a car on Upper Pratt Road in New Ipswich last Tuesday when she was shot.

Doctors at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston performed two surgeries to remove the BB. She is still recovering.

New Ipswich Police announced the arrest on Monday.

"After an investigation, a 14-year-old male has been identified and is being charged in connection with this incident," police said in a statement.

"It was also determined that it was an isolated incident. No further information will be released due to the suspect's age."

In an interview with WBZ-TV after the shooting, Tessa said, "If they come forward and if they're watching this, and if they say, 'I'm sorry, I do confess,' apology accepted."

Tessa's mom says the boy went to their house on Sunday and apologized. He claims it was a freak accident and was shooting at garbage cans and the BB missed.
