Patriots Fans Show Their Support As Tom Brady Takes Practice Field

BOSTON (CBS) -- New England Patriots fans were out in full force for Thursday's first practice of training camp, and it should come as no surprise which player received the loudest ovation when he took the field.

Quarterback Tom Brady had a big smile on his face when he took the field, met with a rousing ovation from the Patriots fans who packed the bleachers. He thanked them with a simple wave as he hit midfield.

The cheers got even louder when Brady made a one-handed catch on a pass from receiver Julian Edelman, running it in for a touchdown.

Brady currently faces a four-game suspension from the NFL for his role in the DeflateGate mess, a suspension commissioner Roger Goodell upheld on Tuesday. The NFLPA has filed an appeal on Brady's behalf in federal court, so it's still unclear whether or not No. 12 will be able to suit up for the first four games of the season -- including the NFL opener at Gillette on September 10 when the Patriots will raise their Super Bowl XLIX banner before taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But for now, Brady is on the field and getting ready for 2015, and has the support of the thousands of fans attending the practice.
