Chandler Jones, Rob Ninkovich Join Zolak & Bertrand At Training Camp

FOXBORO (CBS) -- The Patriots' first practice of training camp is in the books, and the defending champs are just happy to be back on the field.

On the field with them for their first day were 98.5 The Sports Hub's Zolak and Bertrand, who caught up with a pair of defensive lineman who hope to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks this season.

But first, the Patriots have some team-building to accomplish.

"It's getting back into the rhythm of things and getting back with our teammates. It was a great time for all of us," said defensive end Chandler Jones, who said the day's focus was a mixture of individual drills and team drills.

Fellow pass-rusher Rob Ninkovich said it's much too early to determine how the defense will come together after several notable departures in the secondary.

"This is just getting warmed up and into the flow of how practice will go. When you get pads on, that's when it starts," said Ninkovich. "We have a long way to go and have to work hard. That starts today."

Jones had a similar response when asked if the defensive line will be much more aggressive with the pass-rush, but he's anxious to send some quarterbacks to the ground this season.

"That's more of question for coach Belichick. My job is to rush the passer, and that's what I'm going to do," he said.
