Keller @ Large: Donald Trump Presidency Would Be Non-Stop Joke

BOSTON (CBS) - After Tuesday's events, there is no doubt in my mind that Donald Trump deserves all our votes to become our next president.

In case you missed it, Trump, fresh off his clever dismissal of the claim that Senator John McCain was a war hero for his brave endurance of 5 ½ years as a North Vietnamese POW, got payback for some name-calling McCain friend and colleague Lindsay Graham, the senator from South Carolina, sent his way.

During a speech, Trump told the story of Graham coming to see him years ago in an effort to raise money. It turns out Graham gave Trump his private cellphone number, and Trump kept it. And Tuesday, he read it to the crowd and encouraged them to call.

Ha ha ha, isn't that great? It's just like being back in junior high school.

And it raises the prospect of how these sorts of hijinks might play into a Trump presidency.

Suppose trade or arms talks with a foreign leader aren't going well. President Trump could break the ice and win new friends by calling up the leader – hopefully in the middle of the night to wake him up – and say "hey, is your refrigerator running?" When the leader says yes, Trump could say: "Well, you better run after it before it gets away!"

Who could resist wit and charm like that?

Imagine the fun when an honored guest stays over in the White House and slips into bed in the Lincoln bedroom, only to discover that the president has short-sheeted the bed. What a riot!

Whoopee cushions and dribble glasses at state dinners, plastic snakes and fake dog doo at cabinet meetings, there would be no end to the hilarity!

Yes, by all means, vote Trump! And turn our country into one non-stop joke.
