Milton Teens Help Rescue Actor From South Boston Waters

BOSTON (CBS) – A day of boating near Carson Beach turned into a rescue mission for three Milton teens Monday.

They helped rescue a man who apparently swam out too far.  That man turned out to be local actor Sean Malone.

The teens were on a boat when they noticed an off-duty Boston firefighter in the water. The firefighter, Chris Flaherty, had swum out to help Malone. Flaherty hopped on their boat and they went looking for Malone.

Once they reached Malone, Flaherty jumped in. The teens helped pull then men on board and began performing CPR.

"It took four of us to pull them up on the boat he was a really big guy," teen Joey Binda told WBZ-TV. "We all knew what we had to do and we did it."

Waiting on shore were two other off duty Boston firefighters, Ryan Long and Andrew Lane.

Malone was to Boston Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Malone is an actor who is originally from West Roxbury.

He's appeared in the films "The Fighter" and "Gone Baby Gone."
