Boston Police Officer Assaulted In Mattapan

BOSTON (CBS) – A Boston Police officer was rushed to the hospital after he was assaulted by a man he was trying to arrest in Mattapan Tuesday night.

The officer suffered a laceration to the forehead while chasing the suspect, but is expected to recover.

Other officers arrested the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Carlos Agrinsoni of Mattapan. He was charged with battery on a police officer and open and gross lewdness.

The officer who was injured is a 27-year veteran of the Boston Police Department.

Agrinsoni will be arraigned Wednesday morning.
