Asbestos Reported In Crayons, Toy Kits For Children

WASHINGTON (CBS) -- Could the crayons your kids are drawing with be dangerous?

An advocacy organization called the Environmental Working Group said it found traces of asbestos in some children's crayons and toy crime lab kits sold at Party City and the Dollar Tree.

Now, they're calling for a ban on the carcinogen in consumer products.

Breathing in microscopic asbestos fibers has been linked to serious health problems, including lung cancer.

The group says asbestos was found in Amscan Crayons, Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse crayons, Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Crayons and Saban's Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

The affected toy kits are EduScience Deluxe Forensics Lab Kit, and Inside Intelligence Secret Spy kit.
