Keefer Madness: Jason Pierre-Paul Has An Accident With Fireworks

BOSTON (CBS) -- You hear plenty of stories around the 4th of July about people injuring themselves while lighting off fireworks, but it's not too often you hear about a professional athlete participating in such a risky activity.

That was the case this weekend, when New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul suffered severe burns to his palm and fingers in a fireworks accident in Florida. He's expected to be OK despite badly injuring his hand, but it's unclear if his fun over the weekend will cause him to miss time during the upcoming season.

With Scott Zolak off on Monday and Rich Keefe filling in, "Keefer Madness" made it's way to 98.5 The Sports Hub's midday show. Take a listen as Keefe gives the full play-by-play of the incident (including some commentary on the local news coverage of the incident), which reportedly included a UHaul van full of fireworks.

As Keefe notes, Piere-Paul hadn't signed his contract offer from the Giants, which they withdrew on Monday.
