Worry-Free Weather Likely For 4th Of July

BOSTON (CBS) – Could it be? A comfy, worry-free weather forecast for the 4th of July? It is looking more and more like that will be the case.

It is a rare occasion when there isn't some weather challenge to deal with around the Independence Day holiday.  Oppressive heat and humidity, severe thunderstorms, even a rare Tropical Storm - more often than not Mother Nature intervenes on our holiday plans.

As of this writing, it appears that we may be cooking up the perfect atmospheric "recipe" for a comfortable and pleasant holiday weekend of celebrating our Country.

After the thunderstorms of Wednesday blow through, we will enter a very quiet weather pattern in New England. In fact, we may not see any rain until the middle of next week!

Not only that, but temperatures will remain very tolerable.  High's each day will top out in the upper 70s and lower 80s, no heatwaves in this forecast.

Let's get a bit more specific…

Friday, July 3

Simply put, a beauty. Lots of sunshine, very light winds, low humidity. It doesn't get much better than this. Afternoon highs will be right around 80 degrees.  A gentle sea breeze is likely at some of the beaches, cooling temperatures down a bit into the 70s.

Saturday, July 4

A weather boundary will be stalled well south of New England. Here is where the only potential "fly in the ointment" could come from.  A wave of low pressure will likely ride along that boundary during the day on Saturday. This will likely throw some high clouds back into Southern New England. If the wave comes close enough, there is even a slight chance of a sprinkle over the Cape and Islands.

This could also mean a slightly stronger onshore wind in Boston and along the coast. So worst case scenario for Saturday is a sprinkle near the South Coast, a deck of high clouds over Eastern Massachusetts and a cooling ocean wind for coastal locations. Not so bad right?

Official 4th of July Forecast

Partly sunny (more clouds to the south), low humidity, highs near or slightly above 80 inland and in the 70s close to the Coast.  No thunderstorms!

Sunday will be another beauty with lots of sunshine, no rain threat, and temperatures from 80-85 degrees.
