Report: Bruins Trade Goalie Martin Jones To San Jose
BOSTON (CBS) -- Martin Jones' time in Boston lasted all of about three days.
The goaltender, acquired by Boston on Friday as part of the trade for Milan Lucic, was traded by Boston to San Jose on Tuesday, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. Jones is a restricted free agent.
ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reported that the Bruins receive a 2016 first-round pick as well as prospect Sean Kuraly in return.
The move works for San Jose, who would have had a near-impossible challenge of trying to acquire the goaltender from the division-rival Kings. And it works for Boston, as Martin was unlikely to get playing time, considering Tuukka Rask's status and contract.
The Kings sent Jones, along with defensive prospect Colin Miller and the 13th overall pick of last weekend's draft, to Boston in exchange for Lucic. Boston retained $2.75 million of Lucic's $6 million salary.
Kuraly is a 6-foot-2, 201-poound 22-year-old and has scored 31 goals with 27 assists over 78 games in the past two seasons for the University of Miami (Ohio). He was drafted by the Sharks in the fifth round of the 2011 draft.
