Phantom Gourmet: Candy Ice Cream Bar Taste Test

BOSTON (CBS) -- Phantom recently purchased four boxes of candy ice cream bars at a local supermarket. The cool contenders were Milky Way, Reese's, Snickers, and Twix. See if you can guess which creamy treat ended up at the top of the food chain.

Reese's peanut butter ice cream cups finished in last place. Out of the package, this treat looked similar to a hockey puck, and kind of tasted like one too. The chocolate flavored coating was thick but terrible, and the peanut butter ice cream was lackluster at best. The only redeeming ingredient was the swirl of Reese's peanut butter, unfortunately there was not enough of it to save this sorry snack.

Next up is Twix, made with vanilla flavored ice cream, caramel, and cookie pieces. Unlike its candy bar counterpart, there's just one piece per pack rather than two. But the differences don't stop there. While Twix is known for its signature crunch, this ice cream version is a flaccid affair, thanks to a disappointingly stingy amount of tiny cookie pieces.

The runner up is Snickers. This lumpy bumpy bar has a lot going for it. With light and airy peanut butter ice cream and smooth caramel topped with real peanuts, this treat is all about texture. And while the flavors here are fine, they're just not good enough to take the top spot.

At the top of the food chain is Milky Way. Smooth, airy, and downright decadent sum up this eating experience. The snappy chocolate flavored coating gives way to rich chocolate ice cream, and a ton of luscious caramel. It's creamy, chocolaty, and oh so gooey, Phantom actually wanted to eat the entire box. That's why Milky Way ice cream bars are at the top of the food chain.
