MBTA Makes Changes To Late-Night Weekend Service

BOSTON (AP) — Night owls should take note of some changes in late-night MBTA service on weekends.

Beginning Saturday night into Sunday morning, the last subway trains will leave downtown Boston at 2 a.m. That's 30 minutes earlier than under the previous late-night weekend schedule. Passengers must also make all connections by 2 a.m.

The MBTA is eliminating bus routes 15, 22, 71, 73, 77 from late-night service, and reducing the frequency of other bus routes and rail lines.

Transit officials said they made the changes after monitoring ridership levels during a yearlong test of late night service and input from hundreds of riders during a public comment process.
