Milan Lucic Traded To Los Angeles Kings

BOSTON (CBS) -- One of the most recognizable Bruins faces will no longer be representing the Black and Gold.

Milan Lucic has been traded to the Los Angeles Kings, the Bruins announced Friday night.

In return, the Bruins will receive goaltender Martin Jones as well as the No. 13 pick in Friday night's draft. The Bruins will also get prospect Colin Miller, a 22-year-old defenseman.

That gives the Bruins the No. 13, 14 and 15 picks in the first round. They owned the 14th as their own pick, and they acquired the 15th pick on Friday by trading Dougie Hamilton to Calgary.

Lucic, 27, has logged 566 NHL games over the course of eight seasons for the Bruins. He scored 18 goals and assisted on 26 last season for a point total of 44. That marked a healthy drop from his production over the previous three full seasons, when he averaged 61 points. (In the lockout-shortened season of 2013, he finished with 27 points, a 46-point pace.)

Lucic is entering the final season of a three-year, $18 million extension.

The Bruins originally drafted Lucic with the 50th overall pick (second round) in the 2006 NHL entry draft. In the 2006-07 WHL season, Lucic tallied 87 points in 92 games (regular season and playoffs combined) while accumulating 147 penalty minutes for the Vancouver Giants.

The following fall, he made the Bruins roster as just a 19-year-old, registering 27 points and racking up 89 PIMs in 77 games played for Boston. He also scored two postseason goals in the Bruins' seven-game series loss to Montreal.

His best season in Boston came in 2010-11, when he scored a career-high 30 goals in the regular season and posted 5-7-12 totals in the Bruins' postseason run to winning the Stanley Cup.

In Jones, the Bruins acquire a more-than-capable backup to Tuukka Rask -- as well as another piece that could potentially move this weekend.

Jones, 25, has started 29 games in the NHL and has appeared in 34. He owns a 29-16-11 record, .923 save percentage and 1.99 goals-against average.

Miller tallied 52 points in 70 AHL games last season for the Manchester Monarchs. He also added 10 points in 19 playoff games.
