Phantom Gourmet: Best BBQ In Greater Boston

BOSTON (CBS)-- At Rosebud American Kitchen in Davis Square, Somerville, Chef John Delpha takes the lessons he's learned from entering barbecue competitions across the country and applies them to authentic southern-style ribs and bacon-wrapped meatloaf.

"This is a wood fired smoker. You can see that there's nothing but wood coals and wood down there," said Delpha.

Bison County on Waltham's Moody Street offers southwestern classics and outstanding barbecue cooked on an eight-foot-long grill right in the middle of the dining room. The specialty here is the South Carolina style chicken wings slathered in a mustard-based barbecue sauce.

For a little extra smokiness in their ribs, steaks, and turkey tips, Red Heat Tavern in Wilmington uses a state of the art, blistering hot, wood-fired Josper oven.

And you can taste some of the best barbecue from Texas, Virginia, and even Australia at the Phantom Gourmet Barbecue and Country Fest. It's happening now through Sunday at the Tri-City Arena at the Rochester Fairgrounds in New Hampshire. Tickets are available at the event.
