Organizers: New Plan For Boston 2024 Olympic Bid Coming Monday

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Organizers of Boston's bid for the Olympics say they hope to release their new plan for the 2024 Summer Games on Monday.

Boston 2024 CEO Richard Davey said the much-anticipated release of the "version 2.0" of the proposal they released in January will come ahead of a June 30 deadline.

But Davey declined to offer any hints to the Boston City Council during a special Friday hearing on the organization's financing plan for the games.

Council members expressed frustration, though some voiced support for other updates revealed in recent weeks, such as proposed new venues for some Olympics events.

Councilor Tito Jackson says he wants to see the original, unredacted bid so the council knows what has changed within it and what has not. Davey told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Ben Parker that he has reservations about doing that.

"We're not asking them to weigh the changes," he said. "We're asking them to look at what the bid is today...It's the very first time in six months that I have heard that request made.

"So, I'm happy to consider it, but I couldn't commit today because I just need to understand what the concerns are about releasing that information."

Other councilors sternly reminded Davey that any commitment of taxpayer dollars would require council approval, while others asked Davey to publicly commit to not seeking taxpayer dollars, a request he declined.
