Two NH Men Arrested After Road Rage Sparks Brawl

CANDIA, N.H. (CBS) – Two New Hampshire men were arrested after a road rage incident caused a fight that allegedly included the use of a flashlight and a construction tool.

State police were called to Route 101 westbound in Candia where a crash had taken place.

Police say Matthew Anderson, 40, of Manchester, was driving in the area when he became involved in a road rage incident with 60-year-old Jaffrey resident David Bell.

Both drivers signaled each other to pull over.

Police say Bell passed Anderson in the left lane, then abrubtly pulled in front of Anderson as they moved into the breakdown lane. During the lane change, Bell's car allegedly hit Anderson's.

According to state police, Anderson got out of his vehicle with a large Mag Light-style flashlight and the two began to physically fight.

Anderson allegedly hit bell with the flashlight in the head and groin before the pair separated.

Bell then returned to his vehicle, police said, to retrieve a construction tool known as an angle grinder.

He then allegedly walked up to Anderson and hit him in the head and stomach with the tool.

Each will be charged with second degree assault, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct.

Anderson was cut in the head during the second incident and was brought to a nearby hospital. Bell suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

Bell was brought to the Raymond Police Department to be charged. Anderson was processed and bailed at the hospital.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Candia District Court on August 12.
