MLB Cancels 60-65 Million All-Star Game Votes

By Ryan Mayer CBS Local Sports

The MLB All-Star game this year has been surrounded by talk about the voting system, which has currently allowed 8 Kansas City Royals position players to lead the way at their respective positions in voting. The MLB said earlier in the week that they had done an investigation into the voting process and had found no wrongdoing. According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, the league is now admitting that they've cancelled between 60-65 million All-Star Ballots fearing fraud.  The excerpt from Passan's column:

"I'm not saying we bat 1.000," Bowman said. "But it's between 60 and 65 million votes that have been canceled. We don't really trumpet it because if someone thinks they're getting away with it, they'll try to again."

That quote comes directly from Bob Bowman the CEO of MLB Advanced Media, the company keeping track of the All-Star Game voting.  In the voting process fans are allowed to vote up to 35 times from one email address and so far according to the league over 300 million votes have been cast.

The deadline to vote for the All-Star Game is 11:59 pm on July 2nd.  The game will be held in Cincinnati at Great American Ballpark on Tuesday July 14th at 7:30pm.
