Carpenter remains in good condition and was moved to a rehabilitation center.

"Ms. Carpenter's recovery so far has been excellent," said Dr. Efstahios Papavassiliou of the Beth Israel neurosurgery division. "She's getting stronger every day, and we've seen tremendous progress. We're confident she's ready to move forward with the next phase of her care."

The incident at Fenway happened on June 5 when Carpenter was sitting two rows off the field near the Oakland Athletics on deck circle.

A's infielder Brett Lawrie's bat broke during a swing, flew into the stands, and struck Carpenter.

The game was halted for several minutes until Carpenter could be taken out of Fenway Park on a stretcher with life-threatening injuries.

Beth Israel officials said Carpenter and her family will not be commenting on the incident and ask for privacy.
