Felger: Sox Should Have Fired Farrell A Month Ago, But Can't Do It Now
BOSTON (CBS) - The 27-34 Red Sox own the second worst record in the American League, and appear to be going nowhere fast.
Boston suffered another new-low to the season Thursday night in Baltimore, a game in which the Orioles swept the three-game series and the starting pitcher got into a shouting match with the manager.
It's only early June and Boston is on the brink, once again, before the halfway point of the season. The Red Sox look like a team in turmoil, and manager John Farrell seems like he's losing control of his players.
However, with all that being said, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Michael Felger explains why firing manager John Farrell would be the wrong move at the moment.
"The manager should have been gone a month ago, but they can't fire him now. They can't wake up today and fire John Farrell because then it sends the message to all the players that they really do run the clubhouse," Felger said. "I've been saying to fire this guy for three weeks. But today is the one day you can't fire him."
