Daily Talker: Husband Takes Star's Surname

A Hollywood star is responding to backlash after she revealed that her husband took her last name.

Zoe Saldana appears to have sparked a national conversation on husbands taking the last name of their wives.

In an interview with InStyle Magazine, the 36-year-old Saldana revealed her husband, Marco Perego, decided to take her last name despite her warnings.

"I tried to talk him out of it, 'If you use my name, you're going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world", Saldana said.

But she took to Facebook to defend her husband's decision.

"Fathers, sons, brothers, men everywhere: Your legacy will not perish if you take your partner's surname. Why is it so surprising, shocking- eventful that a man would take his wife's surname? Women have never been asked if its ok for them to give up their names — why doesn't that make the news?"

What do you think of the reaction to Zoe Saldana's husband taking her last name?
