Rob Gronkowski Shaves Head To Boost Kids With Cancer

FOXBORO (CBS) -- New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski shaved his head for a good cause on Sunday.

Gronk was a celebrity guest at Gillette Stadium for One Mission's 6th Annual Buzz Off for Kids with Cancer. More than 1,000 people shaved their heads at the event in "a show of solidarity and support for those courageously fighting cancer."

The charity hopes to raise $1.2 million in 2015; the funds go toward programs and services that help young cancer patients and their families.

Wearing a "Go Bald – I Did It!" t-shirt, Gronk also grabbed a razor and started shaving heads after he got his buzz cut.

Other stars joining Gronk included former Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins and 9-year-old "Fist Bump Kid" Liam Fitzgerald, who has made his own headlines as a cancer survivor.

Before Sunday morning's ceremony, Gronk took to Twitter to recognize the "last few hours" with his hair.
