2 Dead After Car Plunges Into Framingham Pond

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) -- A brother and sister were killed and a third person was injured after their car went into a pond in Framingham off Route 9, police said Sunday morning.

An adult man and woman in the front seat died after the Honda Accord apparently failed to negotiate the curve onto Gates Road, plunging into the pond and overturning, Framingham Police Lt. Steve Cronin said.

A woman in the back seat was airlifted to a Boston hospital, according to officials.

Police got word of the crash at 7 a.m., but it's not clear how long the car had been in the water.

Golfers at a nearby country club called 911 when they found the car in the morning.

"Somebody had to be pretty out of control...if you aimed your car you'd have trouble ending up where this ended up," golfer Mike Cook said.

Nearby resident Anne Fleischman said that section of the road is so dangerous, she doesn't even walk her dog there.

"It's terrible," she said. "People drive very, very fast."
