23-Year-Old Woman Hurt In Falmouth Crash

FALMOUTH (CBS) - Police say that a 23-year-old Falmouth woman was hurt in a single-vehicle crash into a utility pole on Saturday afternoon in Falmouth.

Police were called to Hatchville Road about 12:37 p.m. A Toyota Sienna went off the road and struck the pole on the north side of the roadway.

An off-duty police officer came across the crash and provided aid to the driver until paramedics arrived. While paramedics were working to free the driver, the pole began to fall and came to rest, leaning over the roadway being held up only by wires.

As of 6 p.m., crews were on scene repairing the pole, and the road was closed in both directions. Police believe it may take several hours to completely fix the pole.

Power outages also occurred in the area. Eversource is handling the repairs.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
