Police Seeking Man Allegedly Taking Upskirt Photos At Walpole Mall Store

WALPOLE (CBS) - Walpole Police are searching for a man they believe has been taking inappropriate pictures of women at several local stores. At least two incidents of "upskirting" have been reported at Jo-Ann Fabrics in the Walpole Mall.

One of the women, who doesn't want to be identified, tells WBZ-TV it happened to her inside the store when she noticed a young man place a bottle of water on a shelf close to where she was standing. "Not much longer after that I felt something brush against my left foot and my skirt tugged," she said. "I turned around and he was getting up from a crouched position on the floor."

She chased him to the front of the store screaming to alert customers and employees. "A man at the register went out after him and as he (the suspect) walked by the window he turned back and I was able to take a picture of him. It was either that or knock him to the ground."

Police say the clear photo has turned out to be a crucial piece of evidence since video surveillance from the store was not as sharp. Police say two weeks before, another woman was upskirted at the store, and they have since received similar reports from the CVS in Walpole Center, Nordstrom Rack in Westwood and a TJ Maxx in Norwood.

"We don't have any idea how many times he's done this and got away with it. It's good to let the public know he's out there," said Walpole Deputy Police Chief John Carmichael.

Police believe it's the same culprit in all the cases based on the description. "I thought about other people and young girls he's doing this to and he won't stop at anything if he's doing this so boldly."

Anyone with information is asked to call Walpole Police detectives at (508) 668-1212.
