Police: Unlicensed Driver Caused Plainville Tractor-Trailer Rollover

PLAINVILLE (CBS) – Police said an unlicensed driver will be charged after causing a rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer in Plainville.

State police were called to Interstate 495 at the off ramp to Route 95 around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said a car cut off the tractor-trailer, causing it to roll onto the smaller vehicle.

The driver and two passengers in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

One person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and the other two were brought to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

State police said the driver of the car will be charged with operating without a license. Other charges will likely be brought as well, police said.

Crews were reconstructing and cleaning up the crash scene until about 1 a.m.

The tractor trailer was being driven by a 55-year-old Tiverton, R.I., man. The trailer is owned by Gold Medal Bakery of Fall River.

Police said the car was a 2000 Honda being driven by a 30-year-old Cumberland, R.I., man.
