Woman Badly Injured In Boston Harbor Boating Accident

BOSTON (CBS) - A woman was hospitalized after suffering a life-threatening injury in a boating accident Saturday night in Boston Harbor.

The victim was apparently brought into the Black Falcon terminal where the Boston Police Harbor Patrol is based.

According to the Coast Guard, a woman somehow went overboard early Saturday evening on a pleasure boat near Spectacle Island. At some point while she was being pulled back into the boat, she came into contact with the boat's propeller which severed one of her arms at the shoulder and caused other serious injuries.

The U.S. Coast Guard says there were 13 people on the boat and five other people were in the water when rescuers arrived. The Coast Guard got them out of the water and they were brought back to shore.

The injured woman was talen to MGH. She has not been identified.

Boston Police described her injuries as life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.
