Cambridge Turnpike In Concord Reopens After Water Dam Break

CONCORD (CBS) - Part of the Cambridge Turnpike was shut down Friday afternoon in Concord because of a water dam break.

A section of the earthen dam let go near Crosby's Corner. A torrent of water two-feet high rushed through the road.

No one happened to be driving through the area at the time but it did catch the attention of some homeowners.

"It's pretty surprising...never expected anything to happen," said Jon Jordan.

Crosby's Pond is largely drained following the break.

Route 2 remained open despite the flooding, and the Cambridge Turnpike reopened around 4:30 p.m.

It's not clear yet what caused the dam to break.

There is an ongoing construction project in the area.
