Two Young Adults Killed In Mattapoisett Crash

FAIRHAVEN (CBS) - Two young adults, including an 18-year-old about to graduate high school, were killed in a rollover crash in Mattapoisett Monday night.

Police said a car being driven by 21-year-old Brooklyn Cody Rodrigues was traveling westbound on Fairhaven Road when it hit a curb and rolled over around 10:30 p.m.

The car was severely damaged and came to a rest on the front yard of a Fairhaven Road home.

Rodrigues and Meghan Sargent, a passenger in the car, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sargent, an honor student and leader of the school band, was supposed to graduate from Fairhaven High on Sunday.

Principal Tara Kohler said Sargent was kind, caring and always had a "big bubbly smile on her face." Kohler is working with Sargent's family to determine how to hand her diploma out on Sunday.

At the scene, Brooklyn's family was overcome with grief. "She was a really nice girl," said Justin Hudson, Brooklyn's brother. "Grew up kind of rough, but we all stayed close. I love and miss her."
